I am so excited to be sharing my latest pattern release with you today:
The Darling buds of Spring Shawl
…I really hope you like it as much as do!
A while ago a new yarn company caught my eye on Instagram. Every day I would see lovely photos of new yummy yarn in my feed by a Dutch company called Yarn and Colors and every day I would sit and dream up things to make using those beautiful balls of yarn. One day I decided to write to them and see if they had a stockist in the UK where I could place an order. Instead they offered to send me some to try, all I had to do was pick the colours I wanted – That’s how this shawl was conceived 🙂
Here is what I chose:
I really wanted to make something in happy colours to blow away the winter blues. The shape itself is a long symmetrical triangle with increases on one side, and using a combination of stripes and simple eyelet lace gives the shawl enough interest when knitting it. A lovely stretchy I-cord cast off makes for a beautiful finish to it all.
The yarn is so so soft and a total pleasure to work with, a combination of 68% Cotton and 32% Acrylic, it gives good stitch definition, is durable and washes well.
I took it to the beach the other day and it did it’s job beautifully, keeping me snug and warm.
Working with 4mm needles makes for a quick project that can be finished in just a few evenings and is achievable even by less experienced knitters. Before you know it you have a beautiful warm hug to wrap around your shoulders!
The pattern is now available as an instant download HERE and HERE. If you decide to give it a go I would love to see yours finished, so why not share it with me by tagging #darlingbudsofspring on social media.
