my week away

There has been a distinctive absence as of late by me writing and keeping you up to date on here, but as you may recall, I have been away on a little jolly with three of my friends.

We have been to the French Alps, where one of my friends has a Chalet, similar to this.

It’s in a beautiful small town called Chatel, in the Portes du Soleil region, and very close to the Swiss border.

We had a very relaxing week, spending good quality time together as only girls can do. Our days were filled  with brisk walks, knitting/crochet time, good food and wine, and all that in the most stunning and awe-inspiring mountain scenery that surrounded us.

Top of the world

We must have been good girls, as the weather gods were kind to us the whole time we were there. Blue skies greeted us every day, and most days we did not need to wear our warm insulated clothes when sitting outside enjoying a coffee or long leisurely lunches.

Inspired by all this beauty around me, I felt so uplifted that I managed to be quite productive during the week, making a few decorative things for the Chalet…

A Garland

…and starting a Hexagon project, more in another post later this year.

Hexagon Project

As always, when having fun, the week flew by, and before we knew it we were back in the UK. Normal life has resumed and I had better get my act together and start working on projects for my up-coming workshops in Germany (details in the side bar).

What have you been up to?

Are you enjoying lovely sunshine where you are?

Enjoy! x

christmas preparations

dear diary,

Dried Oranges

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…

The festive preparations are well under way around here at Made with Loops, and I am loving every minute of it. To me there is nothing more exciting than Christmas time…getting all the decorations down from the loft…

…and lovingly waking them from their long sleep. Finding them perfect places around the house, so that they can shine and sparkle in all their finery, whilst all the while Michael Buble is singing in the background. What could possibly be better?!?

Inspiration 3

I have almost finished all my handmade gifts, that’s a first for sure, just a few ends to sew in on this Nordic Shawl…

…a gift for a vsp (very special person). After that I am done and can start thinking of ‘me’ knitting or crochet…Yay!!!

We won’t have a tree this year as we are not going to be here. I am so excited, as in…

…days we are going to Germany to spend Christmas with my family. So so soooo looking forward to staying with my ‘little’ sister, chatting, knitting, drinking tea, crocheting and more chatting…what could possibly be better. The whole family will be together on Christmas eve to celebrate the traditional German festivities and to me there is nothing better than that.

I can almost smell and taste all the delicious festive treats already…

Are you enjoying your festive season as much as I am mine?, I hope you are x

The Colours of Africa (Africa part 6)

dear diary,

this will be my last post about our fabulous trip to South Africa. As you can see from all the photographic post, we had a truly magical time, loving everything from around the Cape to Inland on safari. South Africa is a vibrant, colourful and diverse country and we were made very welcome everywhere we went. We did not feel unsafe at any time (apart from our buffalo encounter), and even though there are still many issues to sort out, which country in the world doesn’t have it’s fare share of problems. I highly recommend that everyone should go and visit at least once in their life time, we will certainly be back.

I leave you with some Colours of Africa…

Ngiyabong and Hambani Kahle 🙂
