ice maiden cowl – a free pattern

Remember this? One of my purchases at Yarndale this year, super soft 100% Baby Alpaca Eden Cottage Maya. This was a definite ‘I saw – I touched’ must buy moment, and the selection of sugary sweet shop shades made it even harder to resist. I was totally smitten and these three beauties came home with me.

In my head on the way home I was thinking up all manner of possibilities for this booty, and I had absolutely no intention to put it away into my stash. Oh no, something had to be made almost immediately. I shared a photo of the yarn with my wonderful IG followers and asked them what they thought should happen to this loveliness. The vast majority thought that either a cowl or a scarf would be perfect, who was I to argue. I played around with some stitch patterns and very quickly decided to let the yarn speak, settling on traveling rib for a simple yet super stylish cowl.

Knowing how much you (like myself) like a little freebie from time to time, I like to share this pattern with you today. All you need to make my Ice Maiden Cowl are 300m super soft chunky yarn in three shades, or if you prefer you can use just one colour. Using a 6 mm Knitting needle, the cowl takes no time at all to make. Before you know it you will be wearing a beautiful accessory to keep you snug and warm, and dare I mention the Ch….mas word, it makes a great gift too.
