introducing scheepjes catona – a new crochet project

#crochet #scheepjes #catona

It’s no big secret that I love many of the Scheepjes yarns available, Stonewashed being one of my all time favourites. This summer however I have added three more Scheepjes yarns to my top ten list of yarns, Catona being one of them.

This 100% Mercerised cotton yarn is perfect for crochet projects as it comes in a breath-taking 69 (yes…69!!) colours. The top bonus of this yarn is that it is in 25g balls, so ideal for projects where you want to use little bits of lots of colours or for Amigurumi projects. The colour range is fantastic with rich jewel tones, soft pastels, bright summer shades and almost every neutral tone you can think of. Another added bonus: It perfectly coordinates with Catona Denim which has a subtle tone on tone dye.

I am also a great fan of design seeds, and together with ‘Pure Colour‘, the style sourcebook by Jane Cumberpatch, these often provide the inspiration for project ideas. I had been thinking of a crochet home project using the photos top & bottom on the right for a while, and when I saw that Scheepjes Catona had the perfect shades there was no stopping me…I put an order in straight away and can’t wait to get started.

I wonder if you can guess what I am making?

Stop by next week to find out and see the progress I have made.

I would love to have your company, as I will share the pattern at the end of this journey.

festive inspiration

dear diary,

Sometimes we can all get stuck for some great colour combination inspiration, and sometimes we just don’t feel brave enough to explore and step out of our comfort zone. There are times when we simply need a little help, and here is where I go to get fresh colour ideas…

Created in 2009 by Jessica Colaluca, the concept of Design Seeds is a unique approach to design blogging through her passion for colour.

Jessica began creating colour palettes at art school, collecting her ideas in journals, and Design Seeds are an interpretation of her original colour journals.

I subscribe to Jessica’s daily inspirational design seeds mail, consisting of two ideas. The ones that particularly catch my eye and imagination I pin to my Colour Board on Pinterest, so that I can refer back to them at any time.
