Stitches – Week 9 – Quilted Slipped Stitch

These past few months the trend seems to have been knitted jumpers and cardigans using quilted or smocking stitches. These stitches create amazing effects and often look quite complicated. They are however super simple in most cases. Why not add this weeks stitch to your samples.

Worked over a multiple of 6 sts plus 3

Q1 = Quilt 1 – Insert right needle under the loose strand at the front of work and knit next stitch, pulling it out from under the strand.

Sl1wyif = Slip 1 stitch with yarn held at front of work

Rows 1, 3, 5 and 7 (WS): Purl

Row 2: K2, *sl5wyif, k1; rep. from *, ending k1.

Row 4: K4, *Q1, k5; rep. from * to last 5sts, Q1, k4.

Row 6: K1, sl3wyif, *k1, sl5wyif; rep. from * to last 5sts, k1, sl3wyif, k1.

Row 8: K1, *Q1, k5; rep. from * to last 2sts, Q1, k1.

Repeat rows 1-8 for pattern.

Enjoy and let me know how you get on.
