This week let’s try a simple Herringbone Stitch. This is a perfect stitch for scarves and jumpers when using a flatter yarn without much of it’s own characteristics.
Worked over a multiple of 7sts plus 1st and starting on the wrong side of work:
Row 1 & 3 (WS): Purl
Row 2 (RS): *K2tog, k2, K1b then knit st above, k2; rep. from * to last st, k1.
Row 4: K3, K1b then knit st above, k2, k2tog, *k2, K1b then knit st above, k2, k2tog; rep. from * to end.
Repeat these 4 rows.
K1b – Knit one stitch below: insert right needle into next stitch but in the row below the stitch on the left needle. Then knit the same stitch as normal = one stitch increased.
I hope you enjoy trying out this stitch.
Stay safe, Heike xo
