Hello lovely people, how have you all been?
Sorry for the long absence here but I haven’t felt like writing and sometimes life is like that isn’t it!?!
I thought I revise an old favourite of mine and share it with you again. It seemed the perfect time as crochet bags and baskets are being seen everywhere this year. If you search the web for ‘crochet bag’ you will find all manner of versions, even super expensive haute couture designer ones.
I designed and made mine in 2014 using some yarn I had in my stash. By adding some strong embroidery canvas the bag turns into a strong and solid item, add stylish bamboo handles and you are good to go.
Yarn I used (most of these are now discontinued but you can easily substitute with any Cotton DK Yarn)
1 x Debbie Bliss Prima in 716 – blue (A)
1 x Debbie Bliss Prima in 710 – turquoise (B)
2 x Louisa Harding Mariposa in 03 (C)
2 x Rowan Summer Tweed in 545 (D)
3.5mm Crochet Hook
Ultra Stiff Embroidery Canvas – 7 holes per inch (purchased from e-bay) – 2 pieces @ 40 cm x 40 cm each
Strong cotton thread (I used Cotton Perle crochet thread) in a neutral colour
For the lining I used a freebie canvas bag approx. 37cm wide x 42 cm high (handles cut off)
Some pretty ribbon to hide unsightly stitches
Bamboo Handles (mine came free from a magazine) – or any handle you fancy
