The countdown to the first knitting retreat organised by WoolyLoops has begun!

After many months and weeks of organising, admin tasks, putting informational talks together, designing the project and knitting samples, we were left with a lot of ends to sew in and subsequently snip off.

Claudia and I have been working tirelessly to make sure everything is just the way we would want if we were the guests, and in two days we will welcome 10 eager ladies at the airport in Manchester. After a short journey they will be welcomed by Seamus and his team at the Chainbridge Hotel in Llangollen and a week full of colourful fun can begin.

I will be writing a retreat diary and my aim is to post a few words and lots of photos here every evening. It would be lovely to have your company during this very exciting week we have all been looking forward to.

Let the fun begin!

Hello dear friends and readers, it’s been a while! I hope you are all keeping well and enjoying beautiful weather wherever you are!

I am sorry I have been a little absent from here but it’s been a bit manic in the studio and just generally with every day stuff. Final preparations for our first Knitting Retreat in May are under way, and I have been busy working on the project for the workshops (a little sneak peek above).

BroochesKnitting Group was at my house this month and last Thursday we all spent a frivolous day making name brooches. They will come in handy when the girls come and visit the knitting retreat ladies for an evening of fun. We had such a great day eating cake and playing with fabric and sequins…total Bliss!

To crown it all the new Gazebo went up over the weekend, and as it is another glorious day here today I had my first breakfast of the year outside this morning. As I was sitting there, enjoying my wonderful view and some early morning sunshine, I realised again how lucky I am to be living and working in this beautiful place.

Enjoy your week, I hope you have some lovely sunny days too!

This week I will be launching a brand new shawl design. A co-production with my friend Claudia of Wollsinn in Germany and part of our WoolyLoops partnership.

What is the connection between Shetland and the author Karen Blixen you ask?

All will be revealed over the next couple of days.

Stay tuned!
