the ‘homely blanket’ quest – square 17

dear diary,

Another week has passed and you won’t believe it if I tell you that Summer is still here. Yes, I know it is very hard to believe that here in North Wales we have had 14 consecutive days of sunshine, blue skies and NO rain…Hurrah!!! The other day I heard that this glorious weather is here to stay until the end of the month or even longer…people are beginning to wonder if they should have booked expensive holidays abroad when it feels like Italy, Spain  or even Morocco right here at home. If only a little housekeeping fairy would move in to do all the boring jobs…I can dream though!

It’s lovely to sit out in the garden every day and do a little crochet or knitting, and this weeks square has been developed outside under the shade of the apple trees. I hope you enjoy making it…

I will try very hard to get a new square to you next Friday but if I can’t…please forgive me (I am sure you have lots of other lovely projects to make)…:) xx

the ‘homely blanket’ quest – square 16

dear diary,

can you believe it…a whole week has passed since I wrote last!!! It clearly has something to do with the weather, as unbelievably we have had glorious continuous sunshine for a complete week with temperatures reaching 28 C on a couple of days. This is most unusual for North Wales, and according to Derek, our weather man, this hot spell is here to stay for at least another week…yippee!!!

After a huge stint working in the garden the other weekend it is all looking very lovely, and this week I have been extremely lazy with the house work chores. Most days, after a quick zoom around the house, I have spent my days sitting outside with my crochet working on…well, this and that.

One of the this’ is square 16…number 16 already, I can’t believe it!

Quest Square 16.1

I made both my squares using the same yarn this week, only changing colours to achieve two different looks. These square are quite small and are perfect to use as gap fillers between large and smaller squares when assembling.

How are you all getting on with your squares?

How many have you all made?

What yarn are you using?

Enjoy your weekend and happy crocheting xx

the ‘homely blanket’ quest – square 13

dear diary,

Surprise!!!!, as I am not available to post this weeks square on Friday due to a meeting with lots of racing horses, I thought I let you have square 13 of ‘the homely’ blanket a day early this week.

This is a spiral design so make sure to remember NOT to join at the end of each round. This is also the reason that it looks a little ‘wonky’…don’t worry, it’s meant to be this way and the sides are still straight to make it easy for joining.
