Hello friends! It’s been a fair long while since my last post and for that I am sorry. It has been a bit of a struggle here as I have been battling with a rather nasty viral infection that doesn’t want to go away. Today is the first day in a long while that I feel well enough to sit in front of the computer and I want to take this opportunity to say hello to all of you.

I also want to introduce you to my latest collaboration design, a vintage inspired baby blanket. This is a collaboration between myself and the lovely Jeni of Fyberspates Yarns. I am sure many of you have worked with some of Jeni’s gorgeous yarns before, this however is a brand new yarn, produced together with Rachel Coopey of Coop Knits. Socks Yeah is a fabulous new yarn in ten delicious colours designed by Rachel. Hard wearing and machine washable at 30 degrees, 75% Superwash Merino/25% Nylon, this yarn is perfect for baby blankets as it is supersoft and has a very high cuddle factor.

As my brief was to come up with a design inspired by vintage colours I firstly set about researching various Pinterest sites. This was followed by trying a multitude of different crochet stitch patterns which I sent on to Jeni for her to choose her favourite. I am pleased to say we both agreed that small hexagon’s were the the most perfect way to show off the yarn and colours, giving the blanket a true vintage feel.

The pattern for the vintage hexie blanket will be launched by Jeni via her various channels soon…sign up for her newsletter to be the first to know or check back here on the blog. Hope you like it!

Fyberspates and Rügen Shawl

dear diary,

About three month’s ago I finished work on my Rügen shawl and even if I say so myself, I was (and am) very proud of the way it has turned out. Inspired by the German Baltic Island of the same name, this large wing-shaped shawl is achievable by knitter’s of all abilities. Incorporating my trademark two colours, I used one of my favourite yarns for this shawl. Fyberspates Scrumptious 4ply Sport is a beautifully soft yarn with a lot of drape and a light sheen, lending itself perfectly for knitting shawls and wraps that will hug you when wearing.

When I finished the shawl I posted a photo to the Made with Loops Facebook page where Jeni, the owner of Fyberspates saw and liked it (yeah!), and last week I had a request for it to feature on the Fyberspates blog here.

Please allow me to be chuffed…I am!!!
