So happy to be able to show you my latest design today. I am calling it the Everyday Sweater, because it is just that, a sweater that will become your very best friend, a cosy hug, a go-to item for everyday.
For a long while I wanted to design a jumper in a relaxed style, a super comfy wearable garment to keep hanging over the edge of the sofa, the sort of jumper you want to wear all the time. I had been looking for just the right yarn to knit with and when I saw the new shades Emma (the little grey sheep) had dyed in her signature yarn (Stein Fine Wool 4 Ply), I fell in love and knew this was it.
As I already had a style in mind, swatching began immediately. I really didn’t want to waste any time and was so eager to start knitting.
Soon the sweater was well under way and as I was knitting each row I loved it more and more. The feel of the soft wool running through my hands and the gentle rhythm of the stitches, I didn’t want to stop. As the sweater grew I suddenly thought that I wanted to add something special to this pattern. I feel cold very easily, especially around my neck, but I don’t always want to wear a shawl or scarf. I also love Polo neck jumper’s, but sometimes they feel just a little too tight and hot around the neck. Solution…
…a detachable short cowl style polo neck that can be added as when needed. 🙂
The sweater features visible seams and deep mistake ribbing and the pattern has detailed notes on how to adjust it to different sizes and change some of the design features. There are many beautiful colours available for Stein Fine Wool 4ply on Emma’s website (www.thelittlegreysheep.co.uk) and we are currently running a give-away over on our respective Instagram pages to win the yarn and pattern to make your very own #everydaysweater as well as a mini skein kit for a friend.
The pattern is a available as an instant download from all the usual places, just click on any links on the right side of this blog.
Hope you like it.
Until soon, Heike xo
