Day 2 started with joy of finished samples and eagerness to get started on the project of the week, a pair mittens designed by Claudia.

Soon everyone was busy again with needles clicking and after a very hush day yesterday, today the room was filled with chatter and laughter.

A big surprise was waiting for our lovely guests when they returned after lunch, as Emma from The little grey Sheep and Sian from Courtyard Books had arrived with lots of books and yarn.

After the initial squeals of joy had subsided, shopping began in earnest and arms full of yarn will be filling suitcases on return flights home no doubt.

Personal shopping attention was given and then Emma gave the group a fabulous talk on how the farm she and her  husband bought and started with just 7 sheep has grown into this business and gorgeous yarn that we know today.

After a good night sleep we were greeted with blue skies, sunshine and the beautiful Welsh hills which put an immediate spring into our steps.

Eager and keen everyone assembled in the ballroom where Claudia gave a very informative talk about techniques used in Bohus knitting and how to apply these into our own work.

Workshop packs, including yarn, technique notes and project pattern, were handed out and everyone started working on their colour practice and sample knitting.

The day went by in a flash and strangely there wasn’t much noise to be heard…something almost unheard off in a room of 20 women 😉

The sky was blue, the sun was shining and North Wales was showing itself in it’s best light. After month’s of planning, a lot of organising hard work, the arrival day of the Wales Knitting Retreat 2018 had finally arrived!

Most of our 20 guests flew from Frankfurt airport, where even Herr Goethe was approvingly looking down on them as they got their needles and yarn out to knit before take off.

After a smooth flight and transfer, the arrival at the beautiful Chainbridge Hotel in Llangollen was accompanied with the usual joy and returning guests were greeted by staff like long lost friends.

Soon everyone settled into the usual relaxed routine…

and after a delicious dinner Marion started the week off with a fabulous and very informative talk about the story and history of Bohus Stickning, our theme for this week.

I hope you will join us for a week of colour, yarn, traditions, fun, laughter and a lot of fabulous sisterhood shenanigans.

XO.
