Goodness, is it really three weeks already since I last posted? Time really goes too quickly!

I thought I pop in today just to give you a quick update on what I have been working on during these past few weeks. Having to spent a bit of time resting under doctors orders, I was able to catch up on some sock knitting.

#madewithloops.co.uk

First a pair for ‘my girl’. These are from Kerstin Balke’s (@stine_und_stitch) Soxx Book and were a lot of fun to knit. Currently her book is not available in English, but I think there are plan’s for that in the future.

Next up a pair for ‘my man’. My first pair of #scrappyhappysocks using up bits of sock yarn left over from other knitted pairs. I used my trusted Omas Socks pattern for these, it is totally fool proof and is the perfect pattern for anyone wanting to try their hand’s knitting socks for the first time. You can download it HERE.

I got so hooked on scrappy happy socks that I started another pair almost immediately, these may well be a present for someone (Christmas is approaching fast).

At the end of September I went to Yarndale. I hadn’t been for a couple of years and it was fun to catch up with old friends, chatting with new vendors and soaking in the yarny atmosphere.

As well as sock knitting, I have also been busy working on a new design. Remember my Everyday Sweater (Here, there will be a Everyday Cardigan next. This is going to be a series of items that can be made fairly quickly, is simple, yet stylish with a twist and will become your go-to items all year round.

Looking at all of these photos I can see why the last three weeks have flown by, I was just a wee bit busy.

During the next few weeks I will be going on my great adventure traveling to Guatemala. This trip has been a long time coming and as you can imagine, I am so excited. My cases are packed, just a few last minute things to finish and then we are off. We are staying with family and here is one of the gifts I made for the daughter of one of my cousins. All little girls like pink right?!?

You can follow my travels over on Instagram where I will share photos and maybe even the odd video on my Insta Stories.

My travel project will be a new shawl design I have in my head and yesterday I wound the yarn into yummy cakes, ready to take on board the plane to get started. This is beautiful squishy yarn from Antonella of Cosy Posy Yarn in Canada in colours Amber, Siren and Coffee Date. I can’t wait to get started and share photos of progress with you.#madewithloops.co.ukI hope you all have a great October and chat again soon.

Hello friends, I am back!

My summer has been fabulous, full of colour, visits and surprises. I hope your’s has been fabulous too?

At the end of July my ‘little’ sister (Buntes Schaf) came to visit. We did Yarn…

… and sight seeing in London Town.

A visit to Loop and a River Cruise accompanied by fabulous weather, what a great day spent with one of the closest people in my heart.

This year summer in the UK has been hot hot hot and I have been enjoying the garden more than ever.

My hubby’s wild flower garden has given us joy and colour, making for a lovely backdrop enjoyed with cool drinks and knitting.

I have published some new designs (more about this next week or so)…

…finishing it all off with a visit to my homeland.

As you can see, a jam packed couple of months full of colourful fun and joy. It has been great to be able to share with you some of the snapshots of this precious time.

As the evenings draw in and a slight chill is in the air, my favourite time of year is approaching. I am back at work in my studio and look forward to working on new ideas and sharing them here with you over the coming weeks.

Which reminds me…thanks to my hubby, I am now working from my new and made over studio, The Rainbow Room!

See you soon and happy knitting!

XO.

Hello friends near and far, I hope you are well!

Hard to believe but it’s almost spring. Last week we had the big freeze here in Wales with more snow than I can remember having for a long long while…

…luckily it’s almost gone now and today the sun is shining and spring is in the air.

Last week I started my posts for #marchmeetthemaker over on Instagram. This is a month long challenge hosted by Joanne Hawker and strives to be bigger and better than ever before this year! Basically you challenge yourself to do a creative post on Instagram every day for a month and hopefully making some new friends and discovering an incredible amount of new talent to follow. Most of all it will be a month of fun, telling the world about ourselves and what we make.

There is a daily prompt and it all kicked off last Thursday (1 March) and here is the story so far:

Day 1 – Y o u

As you all know me already I wont bore you with what I wrote that day, you can always find out more on my About Page.

Day 2 – W h e r e

#marchmeetthemaker #madewithloops.co.uk

I live and work in a small Market Town in North Wales, close to the Snowdonia Mountains and only about 20 Minutes from the sea.

Day 3 – H o w  y o u  s t a r t e d

#marchmeetthemaker #madewithloops.co.uk

Moving to Wales in 2004 gave me the chance to turn my lifelong hobbies of knitting & crochet into a business. It all started with a chance meeting of the brand manager of a well known yarn company. I worked for said company for 5 years before I decided to go it alone. It’s been a long slow road with up’s and many down’s, but I wouldn’t change it for the world.

Day 4 – F a v o u r i t e  M a k e

#marchmeetthemaker #madewithloops.co.uk

This was a difficult one as I like to make many things, but in the end designing shawls won.

Day 5 – P h o t o g r a p h y

#paintboxyarn #chunkypots #lovecrochet.com #madewithloops.co.uk

I mostly use my Smartphone to take my photos and VSCO, Fotor and ColorStory are my favourite apps for editing. Various backgrounds depending on time of year, mood I want to create and subject I want to photograph come in handy and recently I bought myself a studio lighting kit as the light here in Wales is often pretty dark.

Day 6 – W o r k s p a c e

#marchmeetthemaker #madewithloops.co.uk

This is a snapshot of my desk. I like to work in a fairly tidy environment and almost always work with mood boards.

Day 7 – R o u t i n e

#marchmeetthemaker #madewithloops.co.uk

I am an early bird and get up between 6 and 6.30am when all is quiet and still. A cup of tea and catch up with my Instagram friends followed by walking my dog. Shower, breakfast and then some housework before working in my studio for the rest of the day.

Phew!!! That’s the first week done 🙂 If you aren’t too bored and want to find out more about me and my work, I invite you to come back next week for the second instalment.

I am now also part of Makelight where the theme this month is colour and yellow for the next few days. I leave you with some Spring Flowers.

#makelightcolour #yellow #madewithloops.co.uk

Enjoy!

XO.
