a little book of shawls – english version

Happy, healthy and creative New Year to you all!

It’s been a quiet couple of weeks here in North Wales and I have enjoyed some precious time with my little family. We spent a lot of time outdoors making the most of some fabulous weather going for walks enjoying the beautiful Welsh mountains and coastline, and I indulged in some long overdue selfish ‘Me’ knitting.

Back to work today and I want to introduce you to the long awaited English version of our latest book…

#madewithloops.co.uk #alittlebookofshawls

I am so excited that we decided to have the second installment in our ‘little book’ series printed in English and I must admit a little happy dancing did take place on arrival of the books from the printers.

#madewithloops.co.uk #alittlebookofshawls

Surely there is nothing more fabulous than draping a soft warm hug around your neck and shoulders. Who doesn’t like the feel of luxurious fibres enveloping your body, giving that extra bit of warmth or simply finishing off an outfit giving it that special little ‘je ne sais quoi’.

Just like A little book of Sox, this was another WoolyLoops production, and just like the first book, it was a labour of love and a lot of fun was had by Claudia and myself.

#madewithloops.co.uk #alittlebookofshawls

In our first book, “A little book of Sox”, we dedicated each pattern to some of the world’s most dangerous mountains. In this second instalment in the “little book” series we decided to pay homage to some of history’s most notable and strong women. Each one of these women was a pioneer in her field and own right, and each one, we are sure, would have loved wearing one of our shawls. Shawls in all shapes and sizes – Some are knitted and some are crochet, there is a shawl for everyone.

Wirebound so it flips open and stays open whilst you work, full colour photographs and beautifully hand drawn pictures, this is not just a book, it also contains a section on Shawlology.

The English Book is available NOW – purchase directly via my Etsy Shop HERE

or at the following stores:

Black Sheep Wools and Yarn O’clock in the UK

Be Inspired in South Africa

A shawl on your needles or hook is the comfort food of knitting/crochet. A shawl lets you forget about the rigors of gauge and always fits its wearer, whether it ends up an inch shorter or wider than intended. Works of art can be created with a little effort and a few basic materials and of course nothing makes a better gift than a hand knitted or crochet shawl – a virtual hug to the recipient with our carefully constructed stitches.

Happy knitting and crocheting!

Enjoy X.

happy new year wishes

This is my last post for 2016, and, as another year comes to a close, I would like to thank you all for your ongoing support of my little business.

Thank you for reading my ramblings here on this blog…

…thank you for buying my books and patterns…

…for leaving comments and staying in touch, here and via my other social media…

…thank you for participating in my workshops here in the UK and in mainland Europe…

…making the knitting retreats we host so successful and so much fun.

I could not do this without all of you, as working mostly on my own can get a little lonely at times. Your contributions keep me smiling, even when things seem a little tough and frustrating at times.

advent give-away part 1

#adventgiveaway #madewithloops

Happy first Advent friends!

I hope you get some time today to enjoy a little slow-motion. Maybe put a few decorations up, sit by the fire sipping a nice cup of something and doing some crafting.

After the very cold weather these past few days, today is a gloomy day…perfect for staying indoors with my current project and spending some time telling you about my gifting plan for you over the next 4 Advent Sunday’s.

This year has seen some up’s and also quite a few down’s and it has been quite challenging at times. I am not one for broadcasting my personal life on social media, I don’t think it’s the right place for that. There is already so much doom and gloom being spread, so no need for me to add to that. This little space still gives me joy, and as a little thank you for all your support during this year I have decided to gift a little something every Advent Sunday.

Starting today with the latest Sticka book and some beautiful Hampshire DK yarn by the Little Grey Sheep

#adventgiveaway #madewithloops

…packed full of stories, recipes and of course fabulous patterns, this latest instalment of the Sticka book series is just the thing for keeping you company during long and dark winter evenings. I have two copies and two hanks of gorgeous Hampshire DK to give-away…

This fabulous new yarn from The Little Grey Sheep is another truly British yarn. With a passion for all things woolly the team have worked with Hampshire farmers to produce a scrumptious lofty yarn. Utilising their own fine wool shorter fibres, along with some of their neighbours, this woollen spun yarn has real heritage. Sheared by Susie and selected for softness and colour, washed and spun in Yorkshire, and still hand dyed by Emma back at The Little Grey Sheep HQ, Hampshire DK showcases all the best of British.

#adventgiveaway #madewithloops

sticka 2 plus hampshire dk in natural grey

Each hank is 100g – 230m and uses 4-5mm needles

If you would like to win one of these, here is what you need to do:

  • subscribe to Made with Loops Newsletter
  • tell me what you would make with the yarn if you should win
  • let me know which colour you would prefer to win

This give-away is open to UK and European readers only due to postage costs (I know you will understand), and the winner will be drawn next Sunday when the new give-away will be announced.

Good luck to you all!
