Hello friends, it’s been a while.

Today I would like to introduce you to my latest design, the Astrid Shawl. This shawl is a  wonderful collaboration with my friends from Nature’s Luxury (www.naturesluxury.com) and I am truly and totally in love with this one.

This is a triangular shawl inspired by the colours and patterns of Scandinavian folklore and culture. The shawl is worked from the top down with increases worked every other row at outer edges and centre spine. The use of striking colours and textured, as well as simple Scandinavian stranded patterns, set the scene for some fun knitting hours for the experienced knitter or knitters wanting to explore new techniques.

colours I used from left: le coq rouge, barbar, cote d’ivoire, edelholz

Astrid, meaning divine strength, is showcasing Nature’s Luxury Alpacas Bliss, a chunky hand-dyed 100% Alpaca Yarn, so so soft and snuggly, making it perfect for a total comfort knit. The yarn is available in a stunning array of colours, all hand-dyed by Danica of Nature’s Luxury.

Four 100g hanks is all that’s required to make this shawl and Danica has put together beautiful colour combination kits to choose from. You can mix colours together yourself if you prefer and the kit contains the pattern of course. This makes it a perfect addition to your Christmas wish list or to treat yourself right away.

Take a look at the available colours and kits HERE.

If you rather just purchase the pattern and use yarn from your stash you can do so via my Etsy shop here .

Whatever you decide to do I can promise you this, the shawl is 100% comfort knitting, worked up in no time at all and ready to give you a blissful hug whenever you need all winter.

Enjoy! X.

The excitement was becoming almost unbearable as pick up time got nearer! Luckily the drive to Scheepjes HQ was short and soon there was a buzzing sound of about fourteen women chatting. Some of us had met before, but for me it was almost all new faces and new surroundings. We had an exciting first day and I won’t (or can’t) tell you too much. I let the photo’s speak for themselves.

It may well be hot outside, but I can feel a little stranded knitting slipping from my fingers later!

Day 2 Collage 1

Day 2 Collage 2

After sleeping like babies everyone was ready to embrace a new day, and what a fabulous day we woke up to! We were greeted with bird song, blue skies and bucket loads of sunshine.

After a hearty breakfast with, what seemed like gallons of coffee, everyone set to work almost immediately eager to finish colour swatching to begin the actual project. Another mornings hard work gave us a feast for our eyes, just look at all those amazing colour combinations! I think you will agree that they are all pretty spectacular…n’est-ce pas?!?

Other hotel guests were looking on in total awe as ‘the girls’ nimble fingers worked their magic with needles and yarn, and were most puzzled by our language as they couldn’t make out if we were German or in fact Welsh…quite funny at times!

Lunch was soon upon us and then Sian arrived with boxes full of books. Books about Llangollen, the general area, Wales, stories about sheep, paintings, song and poetry, and…surprise…books about knitting!! Isn’t it fantastic when the book shop comes to you? No surprises then when I tell you a good number of purchases were made.

Day 2 Collage 3

Free time afternoon meant that Claudia and I bid everyone farewell and taking the scenic drive home took in some blustery fresh air with some breathtaking scenery saying hello to some of those lovely creatures that provide us with a never ending supply of woolliness!

I might do another sun dance tonight just in case!
