A triangular shawl inspired by the delicate Cherry Blossom petals of Kyoto in Japan. The shawl is worked from the top down with increases worked every other row at outer edges and centre spine. The use of delicate lace weight yarn, either alone, or held together with a strand of Silk Mohair set the scene for a light, yet warm accessory keeping you warm on cooler days and evenings. It also makes for a perfect travel accessory.

The simple garter stitch body of the shawl is finished with a super striking lace border, showing off the beautiful Kokon Yarn to its full potential and making it the perfect project for any knitter who is looking for a relaxing yet a little challenging knit.

This has been a wonderful collaboration with Michelle of Kokon Yarns and I have enjoyed every minute of this process. From receiving the beautiful yarn, swatching various ideas and then knitting up the final design, it has been a pleasure to work with Michelle. Her beautiful Kokon Yarns are available via a number of Retailers, online and in shops, just visit her website to find the most suitable to you.

The pattern is available now either via my Etsy shop or LoveKnitting and will also be available via some of the Kokon Retailers soon, just click on the link to view more details and how to purchase.

I hope you will enjoy knitting this shawl just as much as I have enjoyed designing it for you.

It’s here! “Hello Summer Shawl” – My latest pattern has been released and it’s a good day for it!

This has been another fabulous and fun collaboration between myself and Emma from The Little Grey Sheep (www.thelittlegreysheep.co.uk). This time we decided to make something super soft and super lush using British Hand Dyed Stein Fine Wool.

Like all Emma’s yarns, this wonderfully soft and lofty yarn also comes from her own farm on the Surrey Hampshire borders. There, Emma together with Susie have developed their own range of fine 100% wool yarns. All the yarns come from their pedigree flock of gotland, shetland and merino sheep, raised on conservation meadows, and shorn by Susie at Christmas for the best quality fibre. Washed in Yorkshire and spun in a traditional mill in Devon, then back to the farm to Emma for dyeing. This must be one of the finest lustre fibre now in the UK.

Hello Summer was inspired by walks on balmy summer evenings through flowery meadows on the farm and surrounding country side. This is a symmetrical triangular shawl knitted on the bias, increasing outwards from one point for a long flat triangle. The finished measurements of 180cm x 95cm is the perfect size for wrapping you into a halo like hug keeping a chill off your shoulders.

Emma has put together some beautiful colour combination kits for this shawl, or you can make up your own combinations…the sky is the limit as there is a multitude of colours to choose from, all gorgeous. Just visit The little Grey Sheep to view in detail.

All you need is one hank (100g) of the main colour and a set of mini hanks for the colour work lace.

I really hope you like this labour of love as much as I do, and if you fancy having just the pattern to completely do your own thing, that’s fine too. The pattern is available to download in both my Etsy Shop and via the LoveKniting website.

Have fun and Enjoy!

I am off on an adventure very early tomorrow morning! An adventure with my creative soul sister and co-producer Claudia. Together we are going on a knitting adventure in the far north of Denmark, near Skagen. We are staying in a beautiful Danish holiday house very close to the beach, a beach with beautiful white sand and natural dunes that stretch as far as the eye can see. With the North and Baltic Sea only a thin stretch of land apart, we are sure to enjoy some fabulous walks and beautiful sunsets. We will go in search of treasure washed ashore, shells, pieces of colourful glass, and maybe we will even find a little piece of Baltic Gold (Amber).

High on the agenda is research and inspiration gathering for future projects together, and I will be taking part in a three day workshop learning how to use natural, as well as synthetic dyes to hand paint yarn. This workshop will be taught by Claudia, who is the creative master behind all the Wollsinn hand painted yarns, and will take place at the headquarters of Isager Yarns.

To say that I am just a little bit excited is an understatement, I have been looking forward to this for ages. My case is packed, boarding pass printed and all I need to do is change some money at the airport.

As always, I will keep a travel journal, and providing there is WiFi at the holiday house you will be able to get an update most days here on the blog. Watch out for an interview with Marianne Isager and her daughter Helga coming soon too.

I leave you with a sneak peek of my latest design, “Santorini”, fresh off the needles. Pattern coming soon!
