dear diary,

We have come to the end of our ‘homely blanket’ crochet along, well almost. Today I give you the last square, number 35 to do, and then all you have to do is crochet all of the squares together.

So far I have crochet about half of my squares together…

homely blanket as at Oct 2013

…as you can see I have used cream coloured DK yarn and I am crocheting together using simple double crochet. I might need to do a few ‘filler’ squares at the end if there are gaps, but that should be easy enough. I would just make some simple small granny squares for that. As for the border…I am not sure yet. I am going to try a few different options and will let you know my decision and let you have the pattern, in case you want to do the same.

As I am away over Christmas I am crocheting my squares together when I get back, ready for the big ‘TahDah’ moment on New Years Day, so watch out for that!

But now, without further ado…square 35 – A Christmas Star…

dear diary,

Dried Oranges

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…

The festive preparations are well under way around here at Made with Loops, and I am loving every minute of it. To me there is nothing more exciting than Christmas time…getting all the decorations down from the loft…

…and lovingly waking them from their long sleep. Finding them perfect places around the house, so that they can shine and sparkle in all their finery, whilst all the while Michael Buble is singing in the background. What could possibly be better?!?

Inspiration 3

I have almost finished all my handmade gifts, that’s a first for sure, just a few ends to sew in on this Nordic Shawl…

…a gift for a vsp (very special person). After that I am done and can start thinking of ‘me’ knitting or crochet…Yay!!!

We won’t have a tree this year as we are not going to be here. I am so excited, as in…

…days we are going to Germany to spend Christmas with my family. So so soooo looking forward to staying with my ‘little’ sister, chatting, knitting, drinking tea, crocheting and more chatting…what could possibly be better. The whole family will be together on Christmas eve to celebrate the traditional German festivities and to me there is nothing better than that.

I can almost smell and taste all the delicious festive treats already…

dear diary,

3rd Advent

It’s the third Advent weekend and time for the second last square of the ‘homely blanket’ quest. Only one more square to go…almost impossible to believe I know, and then comes the dreaded sewing up.

I thought we stay with the festive theme for this week’s square. I have called it “A Christmas Rose”, I do so hope you like it. The square is made up of two separate pieces, this gives you the opportunity to make the Rose in different colours and use as a brooch, or use to decorate your Christmas gifts.
