Hello friends! How have you been, well I hope.

The past few days I have noticed that there is a distinct feeling of autumn in the air! The heather is in full bloom on top of my mountains, straw bales are appearing, and in some cases towering like ‘Great walls of China’, the first leaves are falling and evenings are drawing in earlier. There are still some signs of summer to see in the garden and these past few days the weather has been unusually warm. I was able to enjoy a glass of sparkly sitting outside admiring my view a couple of evenings ago – how wonderful.

As I am looking forward to a week away with my girl friends, I wanted to leave you with a little something to do whilst I am gone. How about my new square design reminding us of faded summer glory. I am calling it “Esprit de Fleur”.

It starts with yarn in faded vintage colours, I used Scheepjes Stone Washed DK

I think it is perfect for a blanket to snuggle under when evenings are getting colder.

Hope you like it!

Autumn Collage 2

This week I have been welcoming October with open arms. It can safely be said that autumn is my absolutely favourite time of year – I love everything about it.

To me this is such an inspirational month with the changing colours outside, knitted and crochet cosiness of scarves, hats and mitts, comfort food like soups and stews, pumpkins and golden light, crunchy leaves on cold autumn walks, cups of tea and lighting the fire….well everything really!

There really is something special about the changing colour of leaves, especially Maple leaves. The other day I came across a photo on Pinterest of beautifully crochet Maple leaves. After a little digging I found the source and a beautiful new blog to follow. Meet Lara and her lifestyle blog called messyla. Gorgeous photography, lots of inspiration and free patterns – make your very own leaves, you can find the pattern here.

I made mine using up some Tweed Yarn, but they can be made using any scraps of yarn that you might have. They are fun, take no time at all and you’ll have some beautiful autumnal coasters made in a jiffy. Be inspired by autumn!

Last weekend, like hundreds of others, I also went to Yarndale, a woollie event taking place in the Yorkshire Dales every year. I went with the girls of my knitting group and we had a fabulously colourful day enjoying a good dose of yarny goodness, meeting many old friends and making lots of new ones. It goes without saying that I felt compelled to come home with a little scrumptious booty…

…I can see autumn in these colours and yarns, can you?

Wishing you all a cosy autumn, enjoy!

X.

dear diary,

There is absolutely no doubt about it, some days are meant for whiling away time. You know the sort of thing I mean, it’s a lovely day outside…

but you are stuck indoors supposedly working on some design ideas. Only trouble is, no ideas are forthcoming…oh dear what to do?!?

My perfect remedy is to get my old pile of magazines out, start rummaging and ripping out pages that speak to me…

then a lovely autumn walk and on with some work 🙂
