Sorbetto Shawl

Light, soft and easy as eating sorbet on a summer’s day, this crescent shaped shawl is the perfect pick-me-up for any wardrobe.

Whether you drape it over your shoulders in the cool evening breeze or wear it pashmina style around your neck, it is the perfect accessory to keep in your bag for anytime you need a little extra warmth.

Made with fingering weight yarn, it’s a great introduction to lace and short row shaping, and it will make a great gift that will be much appreciated. The shape of the shawl makes it easy to wear and very adaptable, no matter what the occasion. Make it as shown using three colours, or use a single shade only. It can also be easily adapted to other yarn weights, giving you plenty of options to personalise it to your individual style.

Oma’s Socken

This is my grand-mother’s trusted method of knitting socks which I have been using ever since I knitted my very first pair many many years ago. It is a well trialled pattern and has been used in my family for at least three generations. Simple and fool proof, anyone can achieve a perfect fitting pair of socks using this pattern. No gadgetry needed, just 5 double pointed needles and some sock yarn will do the trick.

Requirements

100g (approx. 400m) 4 ply (fingering weight) sock yarn

Set of 5 double pointed needles

Pattern Cost: £3.50

Two Way Cardi Collage

Two Way Cardigan

A few years ago, on a visit to Germany, I saw a knitted cardigan in a shop window that I liked. As it was hugely expensive I just made a mental note to myself and did a few scribbles in my notebook to be re-visited at a later date. On a visit to Colinette yarns with a friend two years ago I bought enough Zanziba for the scribbles in my notebook. Finally, earlier this year I got out my notes from way back when and designed the ‘Two Way up Cardigan’. It is basically made up of 3 rectangles, uses 2 simple, yet effective, stitch patterns and can be worn both ways up (or down), thus giving you two totally different looks.

Requirements:

approximately 650m of bulky yarn

6mm circular knitting needle to accomodate number of stitches

Pattern Cost: £4.50

The gentle ripple of the stream at the bottom of my field was the inspiration to this scarf. The lace pattern tells of gently flowing movement and the beads add the sparkle of summer sunshine reflecting off the water.
