Try using 2 colours only or use more colours if using up scraps of yarn.

It’s here! “Hello Summer Shawl” – My latest pattern has been released and it’s a good day for it!

This has been another fabulous and fun collaboration between myself and Emma from The Little Grey Sheep (www.thelittlegreysheep.co.uk). This time we decided to make something super soft and super lush using British Hand Dyed Stein Fine Wool.

#hellosummershawl #madewithloops.co.uk

Like all Emma’s yarns, this wonderfully soft and lofty yarn also comes from her own farm on the Surrey Hampshire borders. There, Emma together with Susie have developed their own range of fine 100% wool yarns. All the yarns come from their pedigree flock of gotland, shetland and merino sheep, raised on conservation meadows, and shorn by Susie at Christmas for the best quality fibre. Washed in Yorkshire and spun in a traditional mill in Devon, then back to the farm to Emma for dyeing. This must be one of the finest lustre fibre now in the UK.

Hello Summer was inspired by walks on balmy summer evenings through flowery meadows on the farm and surrounding country side. This is a symmetrical triangular shawl knitted on the bias, increasing outwards from one point for a long flat triangle. The finished measurements of 180cm x 95cm is the perfect size for wrapping you into a halo like hug keeping a chill off your shoulders.

Emma has put together some beautiful colour combination kits for this shawl, or you can make up your own combinations…the sky is the limit as there is a multitude of colours to choose from, all gorgeous. Just visit The little Grey Sheep to view in detail.

All you need is one hank (100g) of the main colour and a set of mini hanks for the colour work lace.

I really hope you like this labour of love as much as I do, and if you fancy having just the pattern to completely do your own thing, that’s fine too. The pattern is available to download in both my Etsy Shop and via the LoveKniting website.

Have fun and Enjoy!

X.

Hello dear friends, it’s been a while 🙂

Where does the time go? Half way through the year already, it’s hard to believe!

After a week of beautiful sunshine we are now back to continuous rain with temperatures that remind more of autumn than summer, so what better way to spend an afternoon than with yarn and hook in hand making this month’ dishcloth.

When I was in Germany recently I came across a Cotton Yarn I had not tried before, so I thought what better way to give it a go than for my #12monthsofhappy feature. The yarn is by a Norwegian Company called Sandnes Garn and is called Mandarin Petit. It is so so soft and was a pleasure to work with, so why not give it a try.

But now without further ado, here is this month’ pattern, a little crochet for a change:

What you need – Man braucht

Approx. 70m of soft yarn in various colours – I used Sandnes Mandarin Petit 50g/180m

Ungefähr 70m weiches Garn in verschiedenen Farben – Ich nahm Sandnes Mandarin Petit 50g/180m

3.5mm Crochet Hook – 3.5mm Häkelnadel

Darning Needle to weave in ends – Stopfnadel zum Fäden vernähen

Finished size of the cloth: 20 cm diameter

Fertige Maße des Spültuchs: 20 cm Durchmesser

How to – So gehts

Ch5 and close to form a ring

5 Lftm zu einem Ring schließen

Rnd 1: Work 6dc into ring

Rnd 1: 6 FM in den Ring

Rnd 2: Work 2dc into each dc from previous round

Rnd 2: 2FM in jede Masche der Vorrunde

From here mark first stitch of every round with a marker or safety pin

Rnd 3: *2dc in first st, 1dc in next st; rep from * around

Rnd 4: *2dc in first st, 1dc in each of next 2dc; rep from * around

Rnd 5: *2dc in first st, 1dc in each of next 3dc; rep from * around

Continue in set pattern increasing the gap between 2 dc’s in each round until you have worked 24 rnds or the dishcloth is your desired size.

For edging work: *ss, [htr, 2tr, htr] in next st, ss in next st, skip 1 st; rep from * around.

Change colour as desired.

Enjoy! X.Viel Spaß X.
