Towards the end of last summer postman Eric dropped off a rather large parcel all the way from Iceland. To my delight it contained many gorgeous colourful balls of Einrum yarn, you can imagine my joy!

Designing something using this beautiful yarn had been on my list for a while, now I had no excuse and so I set to work.

A jumper it was going to be, that was obvious from the start. I could see it clearly in my head and before long “Wanderlust” was born.

Wanderlust was inspired by my love of travelling and discovering new places and the jumper is entirely knitted in the round starting with the Yoke and thus travelling around the world. No sewing up at all and finished with an applied I-cord at the neck-line, for which full instructions are given, completes a relaxing knitting experience.

Even if you have never knitted a top-down jumper before, you can easily manage this project, as long as you can knit and purl…you are on your way.

The beautiful Einrum+2 Yarn from Iceland, 80% Icelandic Wool/20% Silk, is simply gorgeous to work with. Warm, yet lofty, with just the right amount of drape and a little sheen, makes garments snug and cosy and will see you right though the cooler months of the year. Equally, this jumper will become your go-to for cooler evenings in the summer.

The pattern comes with full instructions and is available to download in either English or German from the usual places, with all links in the right hand column of this blog.

The Yarn is available from Claudia at Wollsinn, just click on this link HERE

I really hope you like it and I would love to hear your thoughts on this, my very first published garment design.

Wish me luck!

Hello friends, wishing you all a very happy new year!

Can you believe that we are already almost half way through January! Christmas is fast fading into memories, very happy ones for sure, but time flies by so quickly doesn’t it.

I had promised myself just selfish knitting during the holidays, but somehow I don’t seem to manage that very well. Without pre planning I started a project that has turned into my first pattern release for 2018 and today, together with my friend Claudia from Wollsinn in Germany, I am proud to introduce my

The inspiration for this Tam o’Shanter (Tam) came to me during a recent visit to Amsterdam. Visiting Museums and the flower market, seeing all those beautiful Delft tiles and hundreds of different kinds of Tulips made me want to try and incorporate both into a new design. Add to this the stunning Einrum Yarn, 80% Icelandic Wool (for warmth) 20% Mulberry Thai Silk (for drape and sheen) and you will end up with a stylish accessory that keeps you warm during the colder months of the year.

I have already worn my version every day since I finished it, it really keeps me warm and toasty when out walking my dog.

All you need is the following:

100g Einrum E+2 Yarn – 80% Icelandic Wool/20% Mulberry Thai Silk – 50g/208m

The Sample uses 50g shade 1001 (white) – 50g shade 1014 (blue) – Tip: The Tam works best when choosing 2 contrasting colours – one light & one dark.

Set of 2.75mm Double Pointed Needles

2.75mm short Circular Needle

Stitch Marker

Darning Needle

50cm Rib Band circumference, but it will stretch to fit up to 57cm head circumference.

The entire Tam is knitted in the round which means that the only time you have to purl ist at the beginning when knitting the Rib Band. This is also a great project for someone who is still fairly new to stranded knitting.

Claudia has put together some beautiful colour combination kits which also include the pattern and you can choose between two languages, English or German. Just click on the link HERE to go straight through to her online shop.

If you prefer to purchase the pattern only you can do so via my Etsy shop here or Loveknitting here.

Keep warm and happy knitting!

A triangular shawl inspired by the delicate Cherry Blossom petals of Kyoto in Japan. The shawl is worked from the top down with increases worked every other row at outer edges and centre spine. The use of delicate lace weight yarn, either alone, or held together with a strand of Silk Mohair set the scene for a light, yet warm accessory keeping you warm on cooler days and evenings. It also makes for a perfect travel accessory.

The simple garter stitch body of the shawl is finished with a super striking lace border, showing off the beautiful Kokon Yarn to its full potential and making it the perfect project for any knitter who is looking for a relaxing yet a little challenging knit.

This has been a wonderful collaboration with Michelle of Kokon Yarns and I have enjoyed every minute of this process. From receiving the beautiful yarn, swatching various ideas and then knitting up the final design, it has been a pleasure to work with Michelle. Her beautiful Kokon Yarns are available via a number of Retailers, online and in shops, just visit her website to find the most suitable to you.

The pattern is available now either via my Etsy shop or LoveKnitting and will also be available via some of the Kokon Retailers soon, just click on the link to view more details and how to purchase.

I hope you will enjoy knitting this shawl just as much as I have enjoyed designing it for you.
