A triangular shawl inspired by the delicate Cherry Blossom petals of Kyoto in Japan. The shawl is worked from the top down with increases worked every other row at outer edges and centre spine. The use of delicate lace weight yarn, either alone, or held together with a strand of Silk Mohair set the scene for a light, yet warm accessory keeping you warm on cooler days and evenings. It also makes for a perfect travel accessory.

The simple garter stitch body of the shawl is finished with a super striking lace border, showing off the beautiful Kokon Yarn to its full potential and making it the perfect project for any knitter who is looking for a relaxing yet a little challenging knit.

This has been a wonderful collaboration with Michelle of Kokon Yarns and I have enjoyed every minute of this process. From receiving the beautiful yarn, swatching various ideas and then knitting up the final design, it has been a pleasure to work with Michelle. Her beautiful Kokon Yarns are available via a number of Retailers, online and in shops, just visit her website to find the most suitable to you.

The pattern is available now either via my Etsy shop or LoveKnitting and will also be available via some of the Kokon Retailers soon, just click on the link to view more details and how to purchase.

I hope you will enjoy knitting this shawl just as much as I have enjoyed designing it for you.

Hello friends, it’s been a while.

Today I would like to introduce you to my latest design, the Astrid Shawl. This shawl is a  wonderful collaboration with my friends from Nature’s Luxury (www.naturesluxury.com) and I am truly and totally in love with this one.

This is a triangular shawl inspired by the colours and patterns of Scandinavian folklore and culture. The shawl is worked from the top down with increases worked every other row at outer edges and centre spine. The use of striking colours and textured, as well as simple Scandinavian stranded patterns, set the scene for some fun knitting hours for the experienced knitter or knitters wanting to explore new techniques.

colours I used from left: le coq rouge, barbar, cote d’ivoire, edelholz

Astrid, meaning divine strength, is showcasing Nature’s Luxury Alpacas Bliss, a chunky hand-dyed 100% Alpaca Yarn, so so soft and snuggly, making it perfect for a total comfort knit. The yarn is available in a stunning array of colours, all hand-dyed by Danica of Nature’s Luxury.

Four 100g hanks is all that’s required to make this shawl and Danica has put together beautiful colour combination kits to choose from. You can mix colours together yourself if you prefer and the kit contains the pattern of course. This makes it a perfect addition to your Christmas wish list or to treat yourself right away.

Take a look at the available colours and kits HERE.

Hello lovely peeps, how have you been?

All is good here at Made with Loops HQ and today I want to introduce you to a brand new crochet book written by the talented Tanya Eberhardt and published by the lovely people at Tuva Publishing. You might know Tanya from her inspirational blog at Little Things Blogged . A blog full of inspiration, free patterns and lovely stories featuring crochet, I can highly recommend for you to pop over and have a little parusel.

Tanya has just written a beautiful crochet book called Home Decoration in Crochet and she has asked me to be part of her blog-tour…so exciting! Every day a different blogger/instagrammer will introduce and showcase the patterns featured in the book, so when mine arrived last week I couldn’t wait to get started.

I decided to make the beautiful Granny Square Cushion and after trying a few different cotton yarns I settled for one of my favourites: Vinnis Colours Nikkim, a lovely soft 100% cotton yarn from South Africa.

Well written and charted instruction made it very easy and pleasurable working up this pattern and before too long I had finished. There are twenty five colourful designs in the book, all promising to brighten up your home and Tanya is giving away a copy of the book over on her blog. Why not pop over for a chance to win!

My cushion now has pride of place on my bed and I am totally in love with it.

Hope you like it too!
